APIDA-Owned Candy Collection
Enjoy this curated candy collection from some of our favorite Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA)-owned candy makers
Madhu Chocolate: Madhu in Hindi means honey or sweet which owners, Elliott and Harshit, think makes total sense for naming a chocolate company. It is also the mantra of their lives ‘Be Madhu to one another’. We’re suckers for citrus around here, so we love that they use fresh lemon peel in a dark chocolate. Madhu takes it a step further by pair lemon with the citrusy, herbaceous notes of coriander seed. The result is a very unique, aromatic dark chocolate bar unlike anything you’ve had before.
Deux Cranes French-trained, Japanese-American chocolatier Michiko Marron-Kibbey has created a beautiful array of chocolates that are a treat for the senses. We love the geometric textures of her bars almost as much as her thoughtful use of Japanese flavors like kinako (roasted soy powder), goma (black sesame), and hōjicha (roasted Japanese green tea). Dark Chocolate with Miso Almond (Dairy Free) is one of our favorites – it’s classic, rich dark chocolate, enhanced with an umami-bomb of miso/almond. Super satisfying and savory!
Chocs ‘N Boxes: Husband-and-wife team, Gerry & Sailyn Dean, are some of our favorite chocolatiers, and they do amazing bean-to-bar work, creating specialties from cacao harvested exclusively from their family-owned farm in the Philippines. In their first year of business, they medaled in the World Finals of the International Chocolate Awards, reaffirming our love for their family-owned creations. This gift set includes their Pistachio Malt Balls and a Milk Chocolate with Pecan and Banana Chips Bar.
(Bars & malt balls may be substituted with other flavors by the same candy maker, as inventory allows.)
